Hi there! I'm Bridget Edwards. I'm a writer. I'm an editor. I'm an amateur artist. I'm an outdoor and travel enthusiast.
I've been reading and writing excessively since I was a kid. Every chance I had, I would be scribbling in a notebook about some new story plot or character development; any other spare minute often left me with my nose in a book. At the age of thirteen, I finished writing my first novel and had it edited. I believe it was at this point that I realized the value and importance of editing. I know how satisfying it feels to write a personal masterpiece, but it is just as satisfying to help someone else get to that point. So why not do both? As a writer, I seek to uplift, inspire, and inform my readers. As an editor, I seek to help other writers achieve the same thing. My goal as an editor is to help writers make the most of their work. I know that handing your work to an editor can be scary, especially if previous editors have painted your manuscripts red from all their markups. When I review a manuscript, I seek to keep the author's unique tone, personality, and writing style, making changes only to enhance clarity, flow, and grammatical structure. I do my best to support my edits with grammar, usage, and style guidelines. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Language from Brigham Young University in December 2016. I also received minors in editing and visual arts. During my school years, I interned for BYU Studies Quarterly and Healthy Utah Magazine; these internships provided me with first-hand experience in editing books, academic essays, and online articles. After graduation, I took on a side job (in addition to my full-time job) to be a freelance editor for the self-published Amazon Best-Seller You Are The Team: 6 Simple Ways Teammates Can Go From Good To Great. I have developed skills in both copy and substantive editing, WordPress, and Adobe Photoshop. When I'm not editing or writing, I am usually hiking in the mountains, on the tennis court, or strolling through the neighborhood. When I have time and money, I enjoy traveling across the U.S.A. and throughout Europe. No matter where I am, there's typically a camera in my hand or a sketchbook in my pocket. My love for art and cultural diversity drives me to meet new people and experience new places. Although Utah is my new permanent residence, Washington state will always be home. I currently reside in Provo, Utah with my husband. |
